Change In Law Spurs 'Passport Days' In Hawleyville
Change In Law Spurs âPassport Daysâ In Hawleyville
Recent changes in federal law require that any person traveling to destinations outside the United States â including Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean â will need a passport.
The Hawleyville Post Office at 30 Hawleyville Road will hold âPassports in the Afternoonâ by appointment only on Saturday, March 31, from 1 to 4 pm, in order to help local residents obtain quickly and conveniently this official document necessary for international travel.
Applicants need to bring an original copy of their birth certificate (with a raised seal) and proof of identity. Children under 14 require both parents present and need a long form birth certificate.
Postal staff will have a camera available for passport photos for $15. Passport fees are $67 ($52 for children under 16), made payable to the Department of State, and $30, made payable to the US Postal Service. Only cash or checks can be accepted.
Processing takes about six to eight weeks and there will be expedited mailing services available if needed.
This is a convenient opportunity to obtain a passport, which will be valid for ten years (or five years if under age 16).
Call the Hawleyville Post Office at 270-6062 or send email to mark.j.favale@usps.gov for additional information.
