Honoring Volunteers
Honoring Volunteers
To the Editor,
This week as National Volunteer Recognition Week is celebrated, April 9 to 15. Newtown Youth Services would like to offer our humble gratitude to the countless numbers of volunteers who give âthe time of their lifeâ for the sake of Newtownâs youth.
In a world where âme firstâ is often the motto, these wonderful people â as young as seven years old â actually go out of their way to help us accomplish programs that range from folding newsletters and stuffing envelopes to installing air conditioners and building shelves.
As we are a small staff, our agency would not be able to continue and flourish without the support of the hundreds of volunteers assisting us throughout the year. We say thank you to each and every one of you! You will never know how truly indispensable you are.
The following list will give you an idea of the significance of volunteer efforts â the Newtown Youth Servicesâ Board of Directors, the H.S. Youth Advisory Board, the M.S. Youth Advisory Board, NYCAAP, the Juvenile Review Board, PIE newsletter helpers, middle school afterschool program leaders, elementary school afterschool program leaders, annual mailing workers, Cullenâs summer program assistants, Bike Day workers, carnival workers, Depot Day helpers, Parent Education Workshop leaders, mentors, tag sale helpers, Boy Scout troops, Day of Caring workers, New Motherâs group leaders, Talent Show helpers, middle school PASSAGES speakers, Musical Extravaganza organizers, Independent Living Week workers, and all parents who pick up, drop off, and transport their children for Youth Servicesâ programs.
We are constantly renewed and energized by contact with thoughtful, considerate, giving youth and adults who would like to be a part of Newtownâs future â our youth!
There is an opportunity to support Newtown Youth Services on April 15th by attending our Musical Extravaganza at the Fireside Inn â Dancing, great food, door prizes and a fabulous auction. Call for info.
Sincerely,
The Staff of Newtown Youth Services
