BPW Meeting Set For October 6

Bonnie Rabe, first vice president of the state chapter of the Business &

Professional Women (BPW) of Connecticut, will be the guest speaker at the

Monday, October 6, meeting of the Newtown BPW.

The dinner meeting will be held at the Fireside Inn on South Main Street.

Reservations, $16, may be made by calling Barbara Shohet at 270-8456.

Ms Rabe will lead a workshop on the subject of team building/consensus

building. "[Her] expertise and energy ensures a lively meeting, generating new

ideas and the means to accomplish them," said Newtown BPW member Adele J.

Furdyna.

As a former Woman of the Year from the Meriden BPW, Ms Rabe also will

recognize the accomplishments of Margareta Kotch, who has been selected as the

Newtown chapter's 1997 Woman of the Year. Ms Kotch will receive the award at

the November 3 meeting.

A former nurse and businesswoman, Ms Kotch has been active for many years in

the Visiting Nurse Association, the Newtown Scholarship Association, Regional

Hospice of Western Connecticut and the Danbury Hospital Development Fund.

BPW Women of the Year from across the state will be honored at the state

luncheon on October 18 at the start of National Business Women's Week. This

banquet is being held at the Cornucopia Banqueting Hall in Torrington. If you

are interested in knowing more about this event, or plan to attend, contact

Andrea McCormick at 860/489-8931.
