BALTIMORE, MD. â The Walters Art Museum will present the 26th annual Theodore L. Low Lecture, âOf Animals and Men: Barye, Beasts and the Duke of Orleans,â on Sunday, March 18, at 2 pm.
Louvre sculpture curator Isabelle Leroy-Jay Lemaistre will examine and discuss Antoine-Louis Baryeâs masterpiece, the duke of Orleansâs surtout de table (table centerpiece) â highlight of âUntamed: The Art of Antoine-Louis Baryeâ and the Waltersâ Nineteenth Century sculpture collection.
Lemaistre is an art historian and the author of numerous books on French sculpture, from the Renaissance through the Romantic ear.
