WWII Veteran

Albert J. Marchetti, Sr, 84, of Stratford, a retired pumper engineer for the City of Bridgeport Fire Department, died April 11 at Lord Chamberlain Nursing Center, Stratford. Born and raised in Bridgeport, he was a son of the late Joseph and Regina D’Arcangelo Marchetti.

Survivors include two sons, William Marchetti and his wife, Carol, of Sandy Hook and Albert Marchetti, Jr, of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; a daughter, Marguerite Marchetti of Mission Viejo, Calif.; a brother, Francis Marchetti of Milford; two sisters, Mary Orsini of Stratford and Nancy DeRosa of Stratford; his devoted companion, Angela Fedak of Stratford; six grandchildren, Ryan, Stephen, Paul, Michael, Christopher, and Sarah; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Julia Genci Marchetti; two brothers, Peter and Italo (Frank) Marchetti; and a sister, Esther Paola.

Mr Marchetti was a decorated US Navy World War II veteran. He was a member of Harris-Rogers VFW Post and a life member of the Grasso Seavey American Legion Post. At St Raphael Parish and St Margaret Shrine, he was a member of the Holy Name Society and served as an usher and worked for the St Anthony Festival. He was a member of the NRA, and a past volunteer of the Barnum Festival.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff and caregivers of Lord Chamberlain Manor.

 Funeral services were held in St Margaret Shrine, Bridgeport, April 16, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors followed in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
