âNewtown Bucksâ Now Available For 25 Local Businesses
The Newtown Chamber of Commerce has officially launched its new gift certificate program, âNewtown Bucks.â Twenty-five businesses are currently participating and the list grows daily, according to the chamber.
Newtown businesses and residents can take advantage of the program now, as a convenient and effective way to give a gift while promoting local commerce.
The Newtown Bucks gift certificate program is a strategic way of achieving the chamberâs goal of ensuring the maximum level of Newtown consumer spending stays in the community. Anyone can purchase a gift certificate in denominations of $10 and $25 through the chamber website www.newtown-ct.com or in-person at the chamber office at Edmond Town Hall.
There is no set limit on the total amount one can apply to these certificates. And gift certificates may be spent at any participating business, which are listed on the chamber website.
Any business wishing to participate in the program must be a chamber member and pay a fee of $50 to participate in Newtown Bucks.
According to a chamber release, the first gift certificate of the program was purchased by Wilton resident, Scott MacQuarrie. He was interested in purchasing something for his sonâs guidance counselor who lives in Newtown. When he discovered this program, he decided the flexibility, ease of use and ability to support local businesses was important, and wanted to use it.
âPurchasing the certificate through the website was quick and remarkably easy and because of the many businesses that participate, there is a wide choice on where to spend the town bucks,â said Mr MacQuarrie. Also, supporting local business is important to me and something I believe everyone should try to do no matter where they live.â
