Hawley Families Enjoy A Spooktacular Night At Castle Hill Farm

Published: Oct 27, 2026 7:00 am

On Wednesday, October 14, Hawley Elementary School students and their families flocked to Castle Hill Farm for the annual Spooktacular event hosted by the Hawley Parent Teacher Association.

The event drew over 400 guests, which is the highest turnout for a Hawley Spooktacular yet. The PTA raised $1,500 through its silent auction. The big ticket items, Principal and Assistant Principal for the day, raised $850 alone. The winners will shadow Mr Moretti, Hawley principal, or Mrs Carmody, Hawley assistant principal, for a day and act as their helpers.

Many students, and some of their family members, kicked off the spooky season in costumes of all kinds. —Bee Photos, Cross

Hayrides around the farm were a very popular activity for the students.

DJ Austin, aka Red Supreme, provided music for the event. Many kids showed off their absolute best dance moves throughout the night. Some of the dance moves were rewarded with a special light up toy.

Children freeze with one leg in the air per DJ Austin's directions.

"Democrats are for defending women, youth and our most vulnerable" If this is the case, why is it so hard to then define what a woman is for Democrats? Democrats can't define what a woman is but we must have a woman president....ok Why do Democrats want to have MEN in WOMENS environments? (sports, locker rooms, bathrooms, etc) Why do Democrats want to masquerade the butchering of young boys and girls by calling it "gender affirming care" If you truly understood the history of the Democrat party, would you still vote Democrat?

Mitch Bolinsky Voted Against Women

Seems like for all his education, Jim must slept through civics class when they were covering Federalism. Mitch holds state office, Michelle Ku serves in our municipal government, and the President, who is not on the ballot this cycle, heads the Executive Branch in Washington DC. Also, Mitch was cross endorsed by the Independent Party in recognition of his bipartisan legislative success. Jim Gaston endorsed Ku’s opponent in the primary because “Newtown’s Democratic leaders trust Brandon Moore” (clever double entendre with his last name.) Just the facts.

Time To Bring Back ‘Dragnet’

Jeff, look no further than our own first selectman. “Brews with Bruce” at the Senior Center is included with membership, but according to the Bee’s own reporting, everyone else must purchase a day pass to attend. Apparently, paying taxes gets you a town government, but having a conversation with its leader requires an admission upgrade. Unless, of course, the intent is to hear only from a preferred audience. A room full of agreeable voices may be comfortable, but a first selectman represents the entire town—including residents who might ask inconvenient questions. Public access should not come with a cover charge.

Have you or have you not been out campaigning for Rep Bolinsky's opponents? That is an important fact to disclose, recognizing obvious biases.

Thank You Candidates!

Guess how many times "Democracy" is mentioned in the US Constitution?
