Dorothy Alice Williams

Dorothy Alice Williams of Wood Road, Redding, a farmer’s wife and mother, died on September 9 at The Bethel Health Care Center. Mrs Williams was 86 years old.

She was born on November 19, 1916, the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary (Dakin) Leize of Bridgeport. She grew up on a dairy farm in Newtown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Dickerson Williams, and her sisters, Mary Currier of New London and Florence Ferris of Newtown.

Mrs Williams was an avid gardener. She was known for her expertise in canning fresh vegetables and fruits from her garden and orchards. She had a great love for her town of Redding. She had lived in Redding for 65 years.

She is survived by her sister, Edna Williams of Bridgeport and her seven children, Dorothy Collins of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; Alice Grillo of Trumbull; Shirley Limot of Paris, France; Nancy Bullard of Chelsea, Vt.; Linda Jowdy of New Milford; Richard Williams of Greenville, Texas; and Debbie Miller of Sarasota, Fla.; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held in the First Church of Christ Congregational in Redding on September 16, with family members and Pastor Dean Ahlberg officiating. Burial was in Hull Cemetery in Redding.
