Keri Sue Graves Abel, 46, of Hayes, Va., died February 8, after a short and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs Abel was born July 1, 1960, in Philadelphia to James and Alice Graves and grew up in Drexel Hill, Penn.

She graduated from Newtown High School in 1979 and served eight honorable years in the United States Navy from 1979 to 1987. “Miss Keri” was a dedicated teacher at Susanna Wesley Preschool, an active member of Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church, and was actively involved in the community as a Girl Scout Leader, band booster, and enthusiastic soccer mom.

 Mrs Abel is survived by her husband of 25 years, Barry; children Rebeka, PJ, and Bryan Abel, and Leslie Abel Rothenberger and her husband, Andrew; her parents; sisters Sheri Zadrovitz and her husband, John, and Beth Graves; and brother James Graves, Jr, and his wife, Stephanie; grandson Lukas Rothenberger; several nieces and nephews; and her in-laws, Herman and Ora Mae Abel.

Mrs Abel’s charisma and spirit touched so many lives. She will be greatly missed and her memory continues to be an inspiration to all.

 A funeral service was held at Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church on February 11, with Rev Terry Clark officiating. Burial will be private.

Funeral arrangements are by Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester, Va.
