A fundraising dinner to help raise funds for the bone marrow transplant of Bill Marsilio will be held Sunday, May 7, from 1 to 6 pm, at the Fireside Inn on South Main Street. It will be an afternoon of dining and dancing to help raise money toward the medical and related living expenses for Billâs life-saving bone marrow transplant. The cost per plate is $60. Nick Hayes Memorial Basketball

The Nick Hayes Memorial Basketball Game â sponsored by the Knights of Columbus to benefit the Ray Connor Scholarship at St. Rose School â will be held Friday, March 31, at 7 pm, at Newtown High School. There will be a 2-on-2 competition for high school students starting at 6 pm ($5 to enter, gets free pizza and Pepsi), a shooting contest ($1 fee for 10-and-under, 11 to 14), half court shooting contest ($5 a shot), and a three-point shooting contest ($2 fee, 12-and-under, 13 and over). There will be prizes for all contest. Newtown High School band members playing in the Pep Band will be admitted free and given free pizza and Pepsi. Pizza, hot dogs, Pepsi and candy â all for $1 each. Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children. Call 426=8064 for further information.
Youth Lacrosse Coaches Sought

The Newtown Youth Lacrosse Association is seeking coaches for its boysâ and girlsâ teams. Experience in the game is helpful, but not required. Watertown 5K Road Race

The annual Watertown 5K Road Race to benefit Project Graduation will be held Sunday, April 9, at 1 pm, at Veterans Memorial Park on Nova Scotia Hill Road in Watertown (kidsâ race will start at 12:15 pm). Entry fee for adults is $12 in advance, $15 on the day of the race. Studentsâ fee is $10 while kids pay $2 and walkers $5. There will be awards for the top three finishers in each of eight age divisions and t-shirts will be presented to the first 200 runners registering. Local resident Tony DeCarlo is looking for people willing to start up a table tennis program on Thursday nights from 6 to 9 pm. Participants should be over 21 years of age and can call Mr DeCarlo at 426-5669 for further information.
Softball Clinics/Training

The Newtown Parks and Recreation Girlsâ Softball League will hold pre-season player clinics and training sessions starting this Saturday at the Newtown High School and Newtown Middle School gymnasiums. Softball Clinics will be held Saturdays, April 1 and 8 at the Newtown High gym with midget division players (grades 2-4) from 1 to 2:30 pm and junior and senior division players (grades 5-9) from 2:30 to 4 pm. Training sessions for players ages 11 to 16 interested in playing summer travel ball will be held Saturdays, April 1 and 8, from 9 am to 12 noon, in the Newtown Middle School A gym.
