A Successful Food Drive
A Successful Food Drive
To the Editor:
Thank you to all the residents of Newtown and Sandy Hook for their generous contributions for the Annual NALC Food Drive. I would like to also thank Glynis Lanzetta and Ann Piccini from Newtown Social Services for helping coordinate and execute a successful event. Thank you to the Boy Scout troops and their leaders, to Lin Hertbergâs group of girls from Project Aspire, to George Birch and all other members of the Highway Department for their assistance, to Jim Schiffer for marking out all the maps for the volunteer drivers, to each and every volunteer who made this event possible, and especially to Ed Reese for working the eventâs entirety and his help coordinating all the volunteers.
Thanks to Dunkin Donuts for starting everybodyâs day with fresh coffee and donuts, and Pizza Palace, Italian Pavilion and My Place Restaurant for feeding all the volunteers and postal employees throughout the day. Thank you to the Salvation Army and Newtown Post Office for their beverage contributions. A big thanks to all the postal employees who picked up a great deal of the food on their routes.
Last, but not least, The Newtown Bee, for the continued coverage of this event year after year. Because of all of you this was another successful food drive, raising over 12,000 pounds of food and necessities.
