(sidebar for Rochambeau Trail story) Contact Your Legislators...

The Rochambeau Trail runs through 32 of Connecticut's towns. Members of The

Rochambeau Foundation would like as many residents of the state, especially

those living in towns along the trail, to contact their state legislators to

urge them to support the pending state legislation to fund the archaeological

research that would establish the Rochambeau campsites across the state.

Voting on a $30,000 line item to approve funding for the necessary research

will take place May 1.

Newtown has three direct representatives in the Legislature. Those interested

should contact Senator Fred Lovegrove, 860/240-0480; Representative William

Varese, 860/240-8700; and Representative Julia Wasserman, 860/240-8787.

For residents of towns other than Newtown that are affected by The Rochambeau

Trail, Mary Linda Rapelye-Flint has a complete list the senators and

representatives to contact. She would be happy to help people find the names

and telephone numbers of those who should be contacted in Hartford. Mrs

Rapelye-Flint can be reached at 758-1540.
