Residence: Newtown. Grew up in Monroe and moved to Newtown after serving in

the U.S. Army.

Marital status: married to Sandy for 28 years. The couple has two children,

Pete, 23, and Becky, 21.

Reason for becoming a teacher: "I knew I was a people person. When I went to

college, my wife told me I would make a good teacher. I majored in psychology

and discovered I liked working with kids. I decided to go into teaching and

began pursuing my teaching certificate."

The keys to successful teaching: "Expect the best and have some fun."

Most memorable moment in teaching: "All the times I'm visited by former

students who fondly recall the things we used to do in class."

Interests: Golf and working around the yard.
