Friends of Music Elect New Board
(with cut)
At their annual meeting, the Newtown Friends of Music celebrated a
just-concluded highly successful 20th season and elected a new board of
directors and officers.
Newly elected to the board were Mary Jo Tyler and Dr Richard Salerno, both of
Newtown. They join Dieter Ashley and Arthur Reed of Southbury, Jane Conningham
and Wally Wood of Sandy Hook, Travilla Deming of West Redding, Lea Kinstler of
Bridgewater, Philip and Doris Lapat of Brookfield, and Cheryl Edelen, Dorothea
LaBelle, Pat Lodato, Joan Popovic and Calla Seliner from Newtown.
Officers for the 1998-99 season were also elected. They are: president, Ellen
Parrella; vice-president, Fred Parrella; treasurer, Paul Gehrett; and
secretary, Ian McMahon. This represents a re-election across the board of the
officers from the previous season.
Plans are in place for five concerts to be given during the association's 21st
season, which runs from October through April. Brochures describing the series
are available from any board member or by writing to Newtown Friends of Music,
PO Box 295, Newtown 06470-0295, or by calling 426-6470.
