Mr Treadwell will talk about his book and his experiences as a commanding officer of SC-648 in the South Pacific at Danbury Library on Saturday, June 9, from 2 to 3:30 pm. The program will be held in the Farioly Program Room.

As well as reading excerpts from his book, Mr Treadwell will make a slide presentation of photos taken while onboard a subchaser. A March 8, 2001, Wall Street Journal book review stated: “The men who sailed [wooden subchasers] have wonderful tales to tell, and Mr Treadwell conveys them vividly.”

The program is free and open to the public. Books will be for sale and autographed. Registration is not required.

For further information, contact Maryellen DeJong, the library’s community relations coordinator, at 796-8061. The library is at 170 Main Street, on the corner of White Street.

Mr Treadwell will also be at Barnes & Noble Booksellers on Thursday, June 14. For that program he will offer a discussion about his book and personal experiences. He will then be available to sign copies of his book. That program begins at 7:30 pm.

Barnes & Noble is in Danbury Square, at 15 Backus Avenue in Danbury. The store can be contacted by calling 730-2733.
