School Business Director Takes A Job In Danbury
John Torok Jr., business director for Newtown Board of Education, has
announced that he will leaving his position to work for the Danbury Board of
Education.
Mr Torok will begin his new job as director of finance and support services
for Danbury beginning in December.
Instead of working with the six public schools in Newtown, Mr Torok will be in
charge of finance for 17 schools with 8,800 students and 1,065 staff members
in Danbury.
In Newtown, December is the beginning of budget time. Mr Torok said that
"there will be some back and forth" when he starts in Danbury and while
Newtown finds a replacement.
John Reed, superintendent of schools for Newtown, said that he will miss John
both as a colleague and a friend.
Amy Dent, chairman of the Board of Education told Mr Torok that he had taken
on many challenges in his Newtown position and has been successful.
Mr Torok complimented the Board of Education. He said throughout the seven and
a half years he worked for Newtown, it has been a pleasure working for the
board.
He said that "when they [board members] walk through the door, they always
talk about the issues, and I don't see political parties come in. As a parent,
I would like to thank you for that."
