Hemlock Hills Review Continues
The town's review of the Hemlock Hills residential subdivision proposal for
Sandy Hook is continuing.
Charles Spath, representing developer Joseph Dewhirst, and others, discussed
the four-lot proposal for 32 acres in the Winesap Road/Rockywood Drive area of
Sandy Hook with members of the Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) at a
November 7 public hearing.
Mr Spath said he is awaiting a formal notification from Town Engineer Ronald
Bolmer that a town road work agreement isn't needed between the town and the
developers for the project to proceed.
Also, Mr Spath said he is awaiting a legal opinion from Town Attorney David
Grogins concerning an aspect of the development project.
To allow the required information to be assembled, Mr Spath agreed to a 30-day
extension of the P&Z's time period for subdivision review. The P&Z is expected
to consider the Hemlock Hills proposal again on November 21.
In another matter, P&Z members held a public hearing on a request from Paul
and Dolores Allen to create a three-lot subdivision on 16 acres near the
intersection of Mt Pleasant Road and Taunton Lake Road.
The property now contains one house. If the subdivision is approved, two
additional houses could be built. Both new houses would have lake frontage on
Taunton Lake.
P&Z members took no action on the subdivision proposal.
