Deadline Extended For Historic Newtown License Plates

Looking for the perfect gift? The Historic Newtown License Plate Committee has

a suggestion.

The committee has extended its deadline for ordering the "Historic Newtown"

special interest license plate, which features art work by author/illustrator

Steven Kellogg, to allow residents to purchase the plates for holiday

gift-giving.

"Plates are available, whether you own or lease your car or truck, for regular

and combination plates," said committee spokesperson Bridget Kellogg. "There

is a one-time charge of $89 ($154 for a new vanity), with no additional charge

at registration renewal time."

Part of the sale price will benefit the Newtown Scholarship Association and

the Sandy Hook PTA.

Mrs Kellogg said the state requires a minimum first-time order of 200 plates;

to date, the committee has received nearly 160 orders.

"The historic Newtown license plates would make an excellent holiday gift,"

she said. "A gift card will be made available at your request."
