Newtown High School’s boys’ volleyball team posted a win at Greenwich on April 9 and fell to Cheshire in a home match on April 12. The Nighthawks defeated GHS 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-16, 25-19).

Nate Twitchell had three aces, 14 kills, 13 digs, and a block; Warner Bacon had 11 kills and seven digs; Noel McLeod logged eight kills and eight digs; A.J. Zatulskis recorded two aces, nine digs, and a block; Dima Franza compiled 27 assists to go along with seven digs; Eli Sullivan racked up 22 digs; and Cole Sgagliardich added five kills in the win.

In the Cheshire contest, a rematch of last year’s Class M State Tournament matchup won by Cheshire, the Nighthawks hung close in a deceptive three-set loss; scores were 29-27, 25-23, 25-22.
