Collision In Parking Lot

Newtown Police report Ethan Salvitti, 20, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2002 Mercedes-Benz M320, was traveling westbound in the rear parking lot of 6 Queen Street at 2:31 pm June 2. An unoccupied 2018 Audi A6 owned by Christopher Ward of Sandy Hook was parked in a parking space in the same lot. Salvitti attempted to turn into a spot next to Ward’s vehicle and struck the vehicle while parking.

No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.

No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.

Hit Multiple Fence Panels

Newtown Police report Maria Brocco, 85, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2006 Subaru Legacy, was entering a driveway on Church Hill Road at 10:33 am July 1. Brocco drove into a temporary fence panel, then continued to push multiple temporary fence panels approximately 50 feet and up against an unoccupied white van. Brocco was unable to explain what happened during the incident.

No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed.

Brocco’s license was seized pending a medical investigation.

Backed Into Car

Newtown Police report Michael Kiley, 63, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2017 GMC Sierra, was backing out of a parking space at 6 Queen Street at 2:39 pm July 1. Michael Fox, 69, of Newtown, operating a 2015 Nissan Frontier, was traveling eastbound in the same lot. The front of Fox’s vehicle collided with the rear of Kiley’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.

No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.

Pulled Into Spot, Struck Car

Newtown Police report Phoenix Sealey, 16, of Newtown, operating a 2018 Mazda CX-5, was in the parking lot of 32 Church Hill Road at 12:11 pm July 2. An unoccupied 2017 Acura MDX owned by Amanda Stefanatos of Sandy Hook was parked, unoccupied, in the lot. Sealey attempted to park in an adjacent spot, and struck Stefanatos’ vehicle.

No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.

No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.

Two Injured In Collision

Newtown Police report Dorothy Fitzsimmons, 90, of Danbury, operating a 2010 Cadillac CTS, was traveling southbound on Obtuse Road and then westbound on Currituck Road at 3:34 pm July 2. Antrice Cone, 40, of Bridgeport, was traveling southbound on Hawleyville Road and began to turn left onto Currituck Road. Fitzsimmons stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with Hawleyville Road while Cone was turning. Fitzsimmons then entered the intersection and struck Cone’s vehicle.

Cone and a passenger were transported to Danbury Hospital for possible minor injuries. Cone’s vehicle was towed.

Fitzsimmons was issued a written warning for failure to stop at a stop sign. Cone was issued an infraction for failure to have minimum insurance.

Struck Town Truck While Passing

Newtown Police report Robert McGuire, 67, of Newtown, operating a 2025 Nissan Sentra, was traveling on Valley View Road at 11:18 am July 3. Robert Toth, 58, of Danbury, was standing in the open door threshold of a Town of Newtown utility pick-up truck that was parked with its engine off on the right hand side of the road. Approximately 50 feet past Toth was a road closed sign with construction signs and barriers. McGuire passed Toth on the left and struck the open door of the pick-up truck.

No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.

McGuire was issued an infraction for unsafe passing.

Hit And Run Driver Sought

Newtown Police report that at approximately 8 am July 7, an unidentified vehicle described as a gray SUV was turning left onto Mile Hill Road from South Main Street when the front end made contact with the guardrail along the eastbound shoulder of the road. The vehicle continued without stopping.
