Rotary Club Formally Unveils Peace Pole At Fairfield Hills Campus
On Saturday, October 4, Newtown Rotary Club formally presented and dedicated a Peace Pole to Newtown “as a show of unity for peace around the world and in our community.” The Peace Pole is at Fairfield Hills Campus’ flagpole island, right near the pickleball courts.
First Selectman Jeff Capeci, Rotary Club President Jennifer Chaudhary, Newtown High School Chorus, members of the local clergy, and guests were on hand to celebrate the dedication. Peace Poles carry the message of peace, May Peace Prevail On Earth, “in languages of the world,” according to May Peace Prevail On Earth International’s website. They are recognized as a prominent international symbol and monument dedicated to peace across the globe, and have been planted on every continent in over 200,000 communities by friends and supporters, working in unison to uplift the consciousness of humankind.
