Business: Expedia Travel

Address: 67 Federal Road (Suite 104), Brookfield

Owners: Mary and Jim Villamana

What is your business background? Mary attended college as a business major and then worked in the real estate field following graduation. She became a housewife while the couple’s children were being raised and going through school. Jim has a background in corporate finance. Once both children were in college, the Villamanas opened the Expedia Cruises franchise in December 2018.

What is the focus of your business? Expedia Cruises represents 40+ different cruise lines and over 40 different land suppliers. The local franchise helps clients arrange coach tours, resort visits, rail vacations, overseas tours, and much more. Going through Expedia also provides customers with Expedia-exclusive benefits and discounts. “It’s more than cruises, despite our name,” said Mary. “Our tag line is Air, Land & Sea Vacations.”

What is something important to you that readers should know about your business? People have the misconception that there are extra fees or that they’ll pay more by going through a travel agency, but it’s the opposite, according to the Villamanas. People also don’t realize there are so many options out there, they added. Customer service is the main focus of the locally owned and operated location.

Do you have any special events planned? We will host Travel Talk: Alaska on Thursday, June 4, from 7 to 8:30 pm at Reverie Brewing Company, 57-B Church Hill Road in Newtown. Employees of Expedia will be joined by a representative from Princess Cruise Line, who will talk about Alaska and special benefits offered during a special three-day sale the following week, June 11-13. Guests will discover why Alaska is one of the most breathtaking destinations in the world, get insider tips from the Princess Cruise Line expert, and learn about limited-time perks and savings available only during the three-day sale. Refreshments, travel inspiration, and exclusive booking incentives will also be offered. Space is limited and registration is requested; visit promo.expediacruises.com/900221/princess2026.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 10 am-6 pm; and Saturday, 10 am-4 pm.
