Business Buzz: Newtown Salt Spa
Business: Newtown Salt Spa
Address: 43 South Main Street
Owner: Eileen Marchese
What is your business background? “I don’t really have a business background. My trade background is I’m a cosmetologist and now a salt spa owner.”
What is your business’ focus? “My business’s focus is really the halotherapy (dry salt therapy). It’s to get people in, to help them relieve some certain symptoms that they might have, the salt is great for respiratory ailments, whether it’s asthma or seasonal allergies. It’s amazing for your skin. And my favorite part … is the mental health aspect. We live in such an ugly world sometimes and this is just kind of, literally, a breath of fresh air, where you can just come in and can just be. As adults, we don’t get that luxury … I can give you 45 minutes of peace.”
What is something important to you that readers should know about your business? “You just feel better … It’s dry salt. You come in, comfortable, and you just relax. You may feel some of the benefits your first time in here … Come in and see what dry salt therapy is. There is nothing artificial about this. Salt comes from the earth. It’s a natural element and it has so many natural, great remedies for you. Just come in and try it. One time, you’ll be hooked … Salt is antimicrobial and antibacterial and a natural disinfectant. It’s science … Kids love it. It’s great for their [motor skills] … if they put it in their mouth, it’s not going to hurt them … Going out in public with littles, you constantly have to hover … moms or dads or whoever can come in here, they can sit. And they can just let them play. The door’s closed, you don’t have to worry about them doing anything and you don’t have to hover. How relaxing is that? We’re kid-friendly and it’s BYOB.”
