Readers should not be too concerned when they see multiple first responders converge on Fairfield Hills during the early afternoon Saturday, August 8. A multiple-agency training exercise is planned.

The training is planned for noon to 2 pm.

Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps is coordinating the event. Representatives from Newtown Emergency Communications Center (dispatch), local fire companies, Newtown Police Department, paramedics and LifeStar will all be participating in the training, which will take place near Cochran House.

The public is asked to keep a safe distance while the event is underway, to allow participants to safely “respond” to the mock incident. First responders will be “responding” in real time and then assessing different aspects of the scene and responses.
