The defending (actually, three in a row) South-West Conference boys' golf champions from Newtown High School teed off at Joel Barlow's Redding Country Club on August 19, earned a win, then came out on top over host Weston at Aspetuck Country Club the next day; the Nighthawks then kept up their winning ways with their first match at home, Rock Ridge Country Club, defeating New Milford on August 25.

In the opener, Newtown defeated Barlow 163-171 as Will Lokey earned medalist honors, carding a 35. Nate Pickard had 39, Aiden Andreotta 44, and Henry Laughlin and Max Carta each recorded a 45.

Against Weston, the Nighthawks prevailed 151-162 behind Pickard's medalist score of 36. Lokey followed with a 37, Jack Wishneski had a 38, Andreotta 40, and Laughlin 45 to round out the Hawk scoring.

Newtown defeated New Milford 142-173 as Lokey and Wishneski led the way; Lokey garnering medalist accolades with a three under par 32 and Wishneski a one under 34. Pickard had a 37, Laughlin a 39, and Andreotta carded a 42 in a strong top-to-bottom team effort.

"Will had his lowest round ever in a match — I think the lowest ever shot at Rock Ridge in a high school match," NHS Coach Shawn Tierney said. "Jack had a impressive bogey-free round of 34. Nate was solid with a 37 and Henry posted his lowest round ever in a match, 39. Great day with a two over par 142."
