Newtown Savings Bank Welcomes Thomas Burden As Commercial Loan Officer
Newtown Savings Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas Burden as VP, commercial loan officer, in its Commercial Lending Department. He joins the bank with more than three decades of experience in banking, finance, and financial services.
Burden’s industry knowledge led him to be promoted to numerous management positions throughout his career, each with increasing responsibility. His roles included VP, senior market manager and, most recently, senior business banking relationship manager. In those notable positions, he established his care and commitment to customers.
When speaking to the values that guide him in his professional decisions, Burden said, “I always want to provide the best solution feasible and position the customer to succeed.”
Burden earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Southern Connecticut State University and an MBA, with a concentration in finance, from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield.
The extensive expertise Burden brings in commercial lending, small business banking, and relationship management will allow him to be a valuable addition to the Commercial Lending team at Newtown Savings Bank.
As for why Burden chose Newtown Savings Bank, he said, “Newtown Savings Bank feels like home. Everyone cares about the communities where we work and live.”
He added, “I am very excited to provide capital funding on behalf of Newtown Savings Bank to support Connecticut businesses, who in turn provide jobs to our neighbors.”
Burden’s community involvement extends outside of the office with his diverse volunteerism. He is passionate about the work he does with more than half a dozen organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club of Shelton, Valley United Way, Shelton Economic Development Corporation, Shelton High School, Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce, and Tang Soo Do Mi Guk Kwan.
Mary Jascha, FVP, chief lending officer at Newtown Savings Bank, said, “I’m excited to welcome Tom to the Commercial Lending team at Newtown Savings Bank. As a Shelton native with a deep commitment to the local community, Tom brings valuable relationships and a community-focused approach that align perfectly with our mission. His strong local roots and dedication to serving customers make him an excellent fit for Newtown Savings Bank’s culture and long-standing commitment to the communities we serve.”
