Backed Into Tesla
Newtown Police report Rosemary Klein, 60, of Easton, operating a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, was backing out of a parking space at 228 South Main Street at 12:53 pm September 3. Conor Heelan, 43, of Newtown, operating a 2024 Tesla Model Y, was backing out of a space in the same lot. Both vehicles backed into each other.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.
Evading Charge
Newtown Police report Jordan Pacheco, 24, of Monroe, operating a 2023 Acura Integra, was negotiating a left-hand curve traveling northbound on Lebbon Road at 10:53 pm September 3. The vehicle left the roadway right and struck a utility pole. Pacheco then left the scene.
Pacheco was later located and arrested for failure to drive in the proper lane and evading responsibility for property damage.
Pacheco was not injured. The vehicle was towed.
Two Toyotas In Collision
Newtown Police report Jaxson Penna, 17, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2003 Toyota Avalon, was stopped at a stoplight northbound on Berkshire Road at 8:15 pm September 8. Wesly Ramos-Salce, 30, of Danbury, operating a 2005 Toyota Corolla, was traveling southbound on Berkshire Road. Penna began to turn left from Berkshire Road towards Toddy Hill Road and struck Ramos-Salce's vehicle.
A passenger in Penna's vehicle reported a minor injury but declined transport. Ramos-Salce's vehicle was towed.
Penna was issued a written warning for failure to grant right-of-way at an intersection.
Struck Sign, Fence
Newtown Police report Chelsea Newman, 31, of Naugatuck, operating a 2012 Jeep Wrangler, was traveling westbound on Wasserman way at 1:56 pm September 13. While negotiating a left-hand curve in the roadway, the vehicle hydroplaned and ran off the roadway right, where it struck a CT DOT sign, spun around, struck a fence, and came to rest in a grassy area facing northwest.
No injuries were reported. The vehicle was not towed.
Newman received a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Reported Tire Damage
Newtown Police report Melissa Tiago, 46, of Fairfield, operating a 2015 Lexus Is250, contacted Newtown Police Department at 2:20 pm September 14 to report damage to a tire on her vehicle while she was leaving the parking lot of 228 South Main Street. Tiago said she believed she struck either a pothole or road debris while traveling through the parking lot. Tiago said she exited the lot and began driving southbound on South Main Street when she noticed the wheel started to shake. Tiago said the tire eventually separated from the wheel while she was driving through Fairfield.
Witnesses Sought
Newtown Police report Rosaura Madera, 56, of Danbury, operating a 2018 BMW 320 xi, was traveling eastbound on Berkshire Road at the intersection of Toddy Hill Road at 7:51 am September 17. Tiffany Para, 50, of Monroe, operating a 2016 BMW X1 Xdrive, was traveling northbound on Toddy Hill Road at the intersection of Berkshire Hill Road. Both vehicles entered the intersection at the same time and collided. The incident is still under investigation.
Both operators were transported to Danbury Hospital with possible injuries. Both vehicles were towed.

Crossed Centerline
Newtown Police report Braydon Williams, 17, of Newtown, operating a 2015 Ford Fusion, was traveling southbound on Farrell Road at 2:44 pm September 17. William Sellers, 58, of Groton, Mass., operating a 2014 Dodge Charger, was traveling northbound on Farrell Road. Williams crossed the double yellow centerline and struck Sellers' vehicle.
Williams was evaluated on scene by EMS but declined transport; Sellers was transported to Danbury Hospital for possible injuries. Both vehicles were towed.
Williams was issued an infraction for failure to drive in the proper lane.
Hit Car On Pass
Newtown Police report Christian Dushi, 19, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2023 Toyota Rav4, was traveling eastbound on Wasserman Way at 9:39 pm September 17. James Foster, 39, of Stratford, operating a 2024 Tesla Model Y, was also traveling eastbound on Wasserman Way. Dushi entered the westbound lane to pass Foster, but struck Foster's vehicle when merging back into the eastbound lane.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
Dushi was issued a written warning for failure to drive in the proper lane.
Failure To Yield At Red Light
Newtown Police report Patel Bipinbhai, 35, of Edison, N.J., operating a 2026 Kia Seltos, was traveling northbound on South Main Street approaching Glover Avenue at 10:33 pm September 18. Colette Ercole, 65, of Newtown, operating a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe, was waiting for a steady green traffic light while stopped in the eastbound travel lane of Sugar Street at its intersection with Main Street. Ercole drove into the intersection in front of Bipinbhai, and the front of Bipinbhai's vehicle struck Ercole's vehicle.
No injuries were reported. Ercole's vehicle was towed.
Bipinbhai was issued an infraction for failure to yield at a red light.
Collision At Gas Station
Newtown Police report Janina Kruzel, 29, of Somerville, Mass., operating a 2019 Nissan Rogue, was backing out of a parking space in a lot on Hawleyville Road at 12:47 pm September 20. Christopher Arconti, 37, of Newtown, operating a 2020 Volkswagen Atlas, was parked at a gas pump in the same lot. Kruzel backed into Arconti's vehicle.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.
Collision In Intersection
Newtown Police report Brewster Nunez-Heatley, 18, of Newtown, operating a 2015 Toyota Yaris, was traveling northbound on Blakeslee Drive at 2:51 pm September 21. Malgorzata Grzybowski, 69, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2016 Subaru Forester, was traveling southbound on Currituck Road and attempted to turn left onto Blakeslee Drive. Nunez-Heatley stopped at the stop sign and entered the intersection in an attempt to turn right onto Currituck Road and struck the left rear side of Grzybowski's vehicle.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
Nunez-Heatley was issued a written warning for failure to grant right of way at an intersection.
Lost Phone
Newtown Police are seeking the owner of a smartphone that was found along the roadside in the area of 23 Swamp Road in Newtown on September 22. The phone is described as a Motorola Moto G04s.
The owner, or anyone with information that may assist in identifying the owner, is asked to contact Newtown Police Department at 203-426-5841 and reference CFS #26-13634.
Proof of ownership required prior to the release of the property.
Arrested On Warrant
Newtown Police report Idris Seljmani, 77, of Newtown, was arrested on September 22 on an active arrest warrant for illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and failure to drive in the proper lane.
Seljmani was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond with a court date of October 6 in Danbury Superior Court.
Incident On Queen Street
Newtown Police report Robin Bernath, 63, of Newtown, operating a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander, was backing from a parking space in the lot of 6 Queen Street at 11:42 am September 22. She backed into a 2013 Hyundai Elantra owned by Jessica Sam of Monroe.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.
Backed Into Truck
Newtown Police report James Bramlett, 71, of Estero, Fla., operating a Lexus EX, was backing from a parking space in a lot on Valley Field Road at 12:40 pm September 22. He backed into a 2026 Ram 2500 owned by Barco Enterprises Trust.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.
