To the Editor:

Amybeth Laroche, candidate for State Senate against Rob Blanchard, likes to emphasize she’s a typical Newtown mom but the emphasis seems hollow given that her policies don’t support women or children. I listened to her interview on Newtown’s own 2 Guys and A Pint Podcast, and was stunned by the disconnect.

Amybeth Laroche is a proud MAGA extremist, openly criticizing our former Republican State Senator Tony Hwang as not following the Trump agenda. Tony was reasonable. He supported gun safety laws, women’s reproductive rights/laws, and helped CT families struggling during the 2020-2023 pandemic by funding subsidies for medical insurance and food.

Amybeth would make our schools and communities less safe by obstructing senate proceedings and attempting to repeal gun safety laws. Her campaign is fully endorsed by extremist groups including CT Citizens Defense League and National Rifle Association. (Rob Blanchard has the endorsement of the Police Officers of Connecticut Association). She agreed with Rep. Mitch Bolinsky who opposed the State Legislation that protected our health providers and women from criminal laws in red States that attempted to criminalize women’s reproductive care that is legal in Connecticut. How anti-women and anti-state rights is that?! And, like MAGA, she wants to defund SNAP, school lunch programs and similar State programs that decreased CTs poverty rates during the COVID-19 pandemic, calling them a waste of taxpayer money. She’s a bad choice for CT and Newtown.

Rob Blanchard is the best Senate candidate with the experience and reasonable policies that protect children, women and our diverse community. He knows that smart CT programs addressing food insecurity and promoting violence interruption increase economic prosperity and improve our quality of life. I’m voting for Rob Blanchard for State Senate!
