On Character, Public Service, And Rob Blanchard

To The Editor:

As someone who had the privilege of representing Newtown in the Connecticut General Assembly, I know how important it is to have a state senator who listens, works hard, and puts the needs of our communities ahead of partisan politics. That’s why I’m proud to support Rob Blanchard for State Senate.

I’ve gotten to know Rob as someone who genuinely cares about the people he hopes to represent. He understands that public service isn’t about political talking points or personal attacks. It’s about showing up, listening, and doing the work necessary to deliver results.

I was disappointed to see a recent letter questioning my character while criticizing what its author described as a political smear campaign. For the record, the case referenced in that letter was dismissed. Through it all, I never stopped showing up for my constituents, doing my job, or fighting for the communities I represent.

To me, character isn’t measured by how loudly someone questions another person’s integrity. It’s measured by how we treat people, how we handle adversity, and whether we continue showing up when things get difficult.

That’s the kind of character I’ve seen in Rob Blanchard.

Having served Newtown, I understand the importance of strong partnerships between our state legislators. Rob would be a tremendous asset to our towns and a thoughtful, independent voice in the State Senate. I know he would be a partner in delivering for the people we serve, regardless of party.

Our communities deserve a campaign focused on solutions, not personal attacks. I’m proud to stand with Rob Blanchard, and I encourage voters to give him their support this November.
