To The Editor:

I am supporting Mitch Bolinsky as Newtown’s representative for the 106th because he is an honest leader. Mitch has worked with other representatives, whether they are Republican or Democrat, to pass legislation that would benefit Newtown as well as the state of Connecticut. He also voted against bills that would not be in Newtown’s interest, such as unfunded mandates. There were many bills that Mitch voted against due to the high cost for Newtown families in these bills. Mitch has never voted for a tax increase. Connecticut's Majority party has a spending problem. They spend more than they take in, causing the high cost of living in this state.

I have spoken to people that Mitch has helped regarding senior citizen issues who are so grateful that Mitch was able to help them with his experience and knowledge to navigate the state bureaucracy.

Mitch has brought Millions of dollars back to Newtown from Hartford for schools and for road infrastructure by working collaboratively with his fellow legislators such as Marty Foncello, who also represents part of Newtown. Hartford takes a lot of money from Newtown taxpayers, and Mitch and Marty are Newtown’s advocates to bring some back to Newtown. Mitch and Marty have advocated for Newtowners with their well-researched facts, and have been able to bring back funds for special education, senior citizen needs, walking trails, Newtown schools, as well as many other things that benefited Newtown families.

It seems to me that the Democrats in Newtown and Hartford are working overtime to have more control in their supermajority stranglehold on the wallets of Connecticut citizens. First, they bring in a transplant to move into Newtown to challenge Mitch; then, with his loss in his primary, he is arrested — poof, he is gone. That leaves Michelle to challenge Mitch. Her history is well documented in the Bee as the Board of Education chairperson that kept Newtown schools closed after COVID longer than most other schools, resulting in low proficiency in grade-level test scores.

I will stick with dedicated, honest leadership that fights for Newtown, and I voted for Mitch Bolinsky.
