Newtown High School's football game has been moved from Friday to a day earlier due to a forecast of rain; kickoff versus New Milford at Blue & Gold Stadium will be Thursday, November 5, at 6:30 pm. The change was made on Tuesday, November 3. Forecasts have since changed and Friday may be looking good weather-wise after all.

This will be Newtown's 15 For Life Foundation awareness and fundraising game. The 15 For Life Foundation opens dialogue about depression and mental health. This is also an important game in the state playoff picture. Newtown is currently ninth in Class MM; New Milford is ranked eighth. The top eight teams qualify for the state playoffs.

The switch allows for a later start to the NHS boys' soccer first-round Class L State Tournament game which will take place on Friday, November 6 at 4 pm when No 12 Newtown hosts No 21 University/Prince Tech of Hartford at 4 pm.

NHS girls' soccer is the No 5 seed and has a first-round bye in Class L. The Nighthawks will host an opponent to be determined on Tuesday, November 10, at 2 or 4 pm.
