Dr Lottie H. Licht died in New York on March 9, at the age of 98.
Born in Duesseldorf, Germany, in 1905, she immigrated to the United States in 1938.
She is survived by two sons, Dr Peter Licht and his wife, Susan, of Newtown, and Steven Licht and his wife, Diana, of Armonk, N.Y., as well as by four grandchildren, Christopher Licht of San Francisco and Stephanie Licht of Boston, both formerly of Newtown, and James Licht and Lisa Licht-Hirsch of Riverdale, N.Y.; and by five great-grandchildren.
She received a doctorate in psychology in Germany, and a masterâs in social work from Columbia University. She was employed for many years as a medical social worker for the City of New York, and by several hospitals. After her retirement, she remained very active in the community and in her field, lecturing and working for many organizations. She was the widow of Dr James Hans Licht, who practiced for many years in Manhattan.
Funeral services were held in New York on March 11.
