Siblings Have Two Different Summer Paths

For two Newtown siblings and rising ninth graders at Chase Collegiate School in Waterbury, summer plans will bring them to two different cities. Erinn Basu will be taking courses in fashion design and illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Her course work includes basic illustration, basic sewing and pattern design, and accessory design. She will also be doing a weeklong workshop in jewelry design, and she has plans to shoot a movie video as well as begin work on a short film. Brother Kieran Basu will be attending the University of Chicago for three weeks to take a class called The Science of Sustainability, which looks at ecosystems as a kind of economy that provide a possible model for sustainable living.
