Medical Town Meetings
DANBURY â Danbury Hospital will hold two health and wellness programs in April to promote health and well being. Both programs will take place in the hospitalâs John C. Creasy Center for Health Education auditorium, from 7 to 8:30 pm, and are free and open to the public.
On Tuesday, April 11, the program will be âThe Cancer Nobody Needs To Have⦠A Discussion About Colon Cancer.â Featured speaker Scott G. Estabrook, MD, a Danbury Hospital gastroenterologist, will address prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of colon cancer and the importance of screenings for men and women age 50 and over (or 40+ with family history). Patricia Scofield, LPN, Nursing Office manager, Danbury Office of Physician Services, PC, GI Section, will serve as program moderator.
People attending this program will receive an EZ Detect Home Test Kit, a test for early detection of colorectal cancer and other bowel abnormalities (quantities limited to 250). On Tuesday, April 18, the Medical Town Meeting will be âThe Facts on Backsâ¦How to Minimize Those Aches & Pains.â Featured speakers Glenda Brawley, OTR/L, Danbury Hospital Main Street Physical Rehabilitation Center, Thomas Nipper, MD, an orthopedic surgeon practicing in Brookfield and former chief of the Section of Orthopedic Surgery at Danbury Hospital, and Christine Talarico, a physical therapist at the Danbury Hospital Main Street Physical Rehabilitation Center, will present a discussion about the common causes of back pain, warning signs of serious back problems, and available treatment options. The program includes discussion on basic body mechanics and positive posture for daily living. Join us in the auditorium foyer from 6 to 7 pm on April 18 for exercise demonstrations presented by the staff from Danbury Hospitalâs Main Street Physical Rehabilitation Center.
Ample time will be provided for audience questions. A prize drawing, giveaways, educational materials, and light refreshments also will be made available. Medical Town Meetings are co-sponsored by the hospital and the Danbury Office of Physicians Services, PC.
No RSVP is required. Park free in the Blue visitorâs parking lot, Hospital Avenue entrance.
