Joseph Brewer of Sandy Hook, Mathieu de Brantes, Mark Laslo, Matthew Meehan, Thomas Wilson, and Matthew Wright of Sandy Hook were named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Bryant University, Smithfield, R.I.

Tufts University, Medford/Somerville, Mass., junior Elizabeth Philbrick earned Dean’s List recognition on the spring semester’s Dean’s List at the university. To earn Dean’s List at the university, students must earn a grade point average of 3.4 or greater.

Scudder Baggett completed his Airplane Single Engine Land (ASL) and his Airplane Multi Engine Land (AML) at Daniel Webster College, Nashua, N.H. Scudder was also placed on the college’s spring 2010 semester Dean’s List. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or better for the semester to be placed on the Dean’s List at the college.

Sarah Holroyd, daughter of Carla Seymer and Michael Holroyd of Sandy Hook, graduated on May 23 from Clark University, Worcester, Mass., with a master’s degree in business administration. Sarah’s concentrations were in marketing and international community and development.

Renee Solheim was placed on the Dean’s List at Siena College for the spring semester. Students recognized on the Dean’s List at the college earn a grade point average of 3.5 and 3.89 during a semester.

Quinnipiac University, Hamden, awarded multiple local residents with degrees during its commencement ceremony in May. Kristen M. DeCesare received a bachelor of science degree in veterinary technology, Jaclyn A. Morrissey received a master of arts in teaching, Carol P. Russell received a bachelor of science degree in organizational leadership, Grant H. Speer received a bachelor of science degree in marketing, and Ryan J. Lanza of Sandy Hook received a bachelor of science degree in accounting.

Newtown resident and Housatonic Community College professor and chairperson of the Developmental Studies Department Rebecca Samberg was awarded a certificate recently for her participation in the college’s coaching program. The program, which pairs students with faculty and staff coaches, has resulted in students remaining in college longer and becoming more engaged in their studies. Gregory Baumgart of Sandy Hook graduated from the University of New Haven on May 16 with a bachelor of science in chemical engineering.

Students at Gettysburg College, Gettysburg, Penn., with a quality point average of 3.60 or higher, on a 4.0 scale, for a semester’s work are placed on the college’s Deans’ Honor List. Hannah Tenenbaum, a sophomore at Gettysburg College, has been placed on the Deans’ Honor List for outstanding academic achievement in the spring 2010.

Also at Gettysburg College, Sarah Harmonay of Sandy Hook was named on the Dean’s Commendation List for outstanding academic achievement in the spring 2010 semester.

Resident Laura Douglas graduated from SUNY College, Oneonta, N.Y., on May 22. Laura earned a bachelor of science degree in dietetics.

Brian Tenney of Sandy Hook and Tara Gaston graduated from Gettysburg College in May. Brian graduated Magna Cum Laude, and Tara graduated Cum Laude.

The University of Scranton, Scranton, Penn., recognized multiple local residents on its 2010 spring semester Dean’s List. Michael R. Iorfino, Jillian S. D’Eramo of Sandy Hook, and Gregory N. Rodden of Sandy Hook were named on the list.

Victoria Cardosa of Sandy Hook earned Dean’s List honors from the State University of New York College at Oneonta, Oneonta, N.Y., for the 2010 semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List, undergraduate students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, while carrying a course load of 12 semester hours or more.

Peter Wlasuk and Katherine Elizabeth Kelleher made the Dean’s List for the spring 2010 term at the University of Connecticut, Storrs.

James Kenneth Wiedemann also earned Dean’s List at the University of Connecticut. James has already earned his bachelor of science degree in accounting and is working toward an accelerated master’s degree in accounting, which should be completed in November. He has been hired by Marcum LLP, where he will begin working in November.

Christopher Snow made Dean’s List at Johnson & Wales University, Providence, R.I. Chris was also elected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges, and was vested in The Silver Key Honor Society for his outstanding academic achievement, an honor bestowed on students in the top three percent of their class. Chris, who just completed his sophomore year, has also been selected to study abroad for his fall term at the Ecole Nationale Superieure de la Patisserie in Yssingeaux, France.

Zachary M. Bokuniewicz, son of Mary and Edwin Bokuniewicz, has enrolled for the fall 2010 semester at Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, N.Y.

Alyssa Carey of Sandy Hook earned placement on the School of Management at Boston University’s Dean’s List for the 2010 spring semester. A semester grade point average of 3.3 or above in four academic courses with no incomplete grades is required to be on the School of Management Dean’s List at the university.

Louis Joseph Ritzinger was awarded Dean’s List honors for academic achievement during the spring 2010 semester at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, St. Mary’s City, MD. Dean’s List honors are awarded to full-time students at St. Mary’s College of Maryland who earn a semester grade-point average of 3.5 or better on 12 or more graded credits. Louis also graduated Summa Cum Laude from the school during a commencement ceremony in May with a degree in political science and religious studies. He was also a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and earned Nitze Scholars Program Commendation.
