Our Advocate

To the Editor:

How very sad for the children of Newtown, their parents, and taxpayers to lose Kathy Fetchick as a member of the Board of Education. She was our advocate. She was conscientious, organized, tireless, and honest. She always called us back. She always answered our questions. If she had an opinion, she told us it was her opinion, not the board’s.

Unfortunately, the majority of the Board of Education is comprised of members who are more interested in power, control, and covering their mistakes than what is in the best interest of the people of Newtown.

There is, however, a light at the end of the tunnel. Kathy has been appointed to the Legislative Council and will continue her role as our advocate. She has not deserted us. She will serve on the Education Committee. Thank you, Kathy, for all your past efforts. We wish you the very best as a member of the Legislative Council.
