Help Preserve The
Castle Hill Scenic Vista
Earth-minded efforts following the April 24 Earth Day celebration in town will continue this Saturday, May 1, at the Nettleton Preserve off of Castle Hill Road.
The Newtown Forest Associationâs, NFA, email appeal to supporters and residents states, âYou can and will make a difference!â Help the NFA honor Earth Day during another trail cleanup this year, which will continue past yearsâ efforts to improve the preserve, which is one of Newtownâs most notable spots for its views overlooking Main Street, the flag pole, and church steeples.
The work day goals include pruning overhanging privet and limbs from the trails, repair wet trail areas, remove invasive species, mulch existing plantings and flower beds, and remove fallen sticks, logs and debris. Â
Meet at Old Castle Drive at the preserve at 10 am. The NFA members will supply bottled water for the volunteers as well as basic first aid.  Limited yard tools are available. Bring your own pruning clippers, lop shears, bow saws, rakes, and wheel barrows.  An adult must accompany children at all times.
Groups greater than four people and scouts leaders should respond in advance with either a voicemail at 203-270-3650 or via email at nfagoodneighbor@newtownforestassociation.org.
