Savings Bank Foundation Opens Grant Process
The Savings Bank of Danbury Foundation is now accepting applications for grants to be awarded in 2010. Grants are available to not-for-profit organizations serving Newtown as well as the Greater Danbury and Waterbury areas in support of education, community and economic development, health and human services, and arts and culture.
âThe Foundationâs mission is to strengthen our communities by providing grants to organizations that are vital to the well-being, growth and prosperity of the communities in which we live and work,â said Hal Wibling, president and chief executive officer of Savings Bank of Danbury. âAt Savings Bank of Danbury, we are about people serving people â and we value our role in supporting our neighbors.â
Foundation grants are administered by a committee consisting of Savings Bank of Danbury corporators, directors and officers.
In 2009, a variety of grants were awarded, including Kevinâs Community Center, Newtownâs free clinic for the un- and underinsured. Among the other 2009 recipients were the Housatonic Habitat for Humanity, The Hord Foundation, Brass City Harvest, Kevinâs Community Center and Literacy Volunteers of Greater Waterbury.
