Had Zest For Life
Stanley Rekofsky, 83, of Norwalk, died November 3 in Norwalk Hospital, following a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on June 29, 1925, in Manhattan, he was the son of Steve and Lora (Sulewski) Rekofsky.
Along with his beloved wife of 52 years, Erika (Guslawski) Rekofsky, he is survived by his son, Stanley E. and his wife, Maryann D. Rekofsky, of Sandy Hook; his daughter, Agnes A. and her husband, Edward S. Wieczorek, of Newtown; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr Rekofsky served during World War II as a field lineman in Marseilles, France, and was responsible for repairing and installing communication lines on the battlefields. During his deployment from 1944 to 1946, he received two bronze stars for battle campaigns in Central Europe and Rheinland.
He worked as an electronic technician and engineering assistant for the former Ketay Corp of New York, until his retirement in 1986.
Those who knew him will miss his zest for life and joyful spirit.
Calling hours are Friday, November 7, in Norwalkâs Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street, from 4 to 6 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 8, at 9:15 am, from the funeral parlor, to St Maryâs Roman Catholic Church, 669 West Avenue, Norwalk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am. Interment with full military honors will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk.
