Spring Concert Will Celebrate 40 Years Of Waterbury Chorale
WATERBURY â The Waterbury Chorale announces its spring concert, which will commemorate the 40th anniversary of the choraleâs first performances in Waterbury. Musical Director Joseph J. Jacovino Jr. will conduct the 110-member Chorale and the Waterbury Chorale Festival Orchestra with accompanist Susan Theodos in the return concert at the majestic Shrine of Saint Anne.
The concert will begin at 4 pm.
Entitled âVoices of Reflection, Thanksgiving and Celebration,â the program will feature an eclectic mix of chorale spiritual favorites performed during its 40-year history either in Waterbury or during its travels to Eastern Europe, Denmark, Ireland, Wales, England, China, Turkey and Austria. Among the musical selections are âGoinâ Homeâ by Antonin Dvorak, âA Jubilant Songâ by Norman Dello Joio, âLacrymosaâ from Mozartâs Requiem, âAlleluiaâ by Randall Thompson, âHe, Watching Over Israelâ from Elijah by Felix Mendelssohn, âThe Awakeningâ by Joseph Martin, âDeep Riverâ arranged by Moses Hogan, âDanny Boyâ arranged by Joseph Flummerfelt, and âWhen the Saints Go Marching Inâ arranged by John Rutter.
The Choraleâs formed group, The Chamber Singers, will be featured in âCantate Dominoâ by Giuseppe Pitoni, âDown to the Water to Prayâ arranged by Pepper Choplin, and âSomething Beautiful for Godâ original music by Director Jacovino.
