Borough Budget Mtg.

The Borough of Newtown will hold a meeting of property owners at 7:30 pm on

Tuesday, April 14, at Town Hall South for the purpose of voting on the

proposed $156,875 budget for fiscal year 1998-99.

The proposed budget, an increase of only $3,213 over the current year, would

not require an increase in the mill rate of 1.05.

The largest area of increase in the budget is $3,000 needed for election

expenses as required by state law. Other accounts show minor increases or

decreases. The budget includes $55,000 for fire hydrants and $29,000 for

street lights, a combined $100 increase over the current year.
