Ronald R. Davis

Ronald R. Davis, 69, of Fairfield, died peacefully in his home on February 22. He was the beloved husband of Joan (DuBret) Davis and the son of the late Louis and Margaret Davis.

He is survived by a daughter, Lynn Lee Knapp and her husband, Jeff, of Newtown.

Born in Bridgeport, he was a lifelong area resident, and had served his country during the Korean War in the US Navy, aboard the USS Benner. After 40 years of service, Mr Davis had retired from Southern New England Telephone Company, where he had worked as a cable technician, and was a member of TELSO, as well as the Port 5 Naval Veterans. When he crossed the equator, he became a member of the Sons of Neptune. A star athlete, he had played for the Newport Naval Base football team, the Black Rock Juniors, played semi-pro ball for the Stratford Rockets, and took the SNET softball team to the state championship.

In addition to his devoted wife and daughter, he is survived by his other children, Michele Anderson and her husband, Peter, of Fairfield, Cynthia Therriault and her husband, Kevin, of Trumbull, Glen Davis of Monroe, and Brian Davis, also of Monroe; nine grandchildren, Matthew Rickerd, Nolan Loughlin, Timothy Knapp, Megan Rickerd, Tyler Knapp, Devin Therriault Jr, Brette Lyn Therriault, Peter Anderson, and Kristen Anderson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on February 26 in St Pius Church, with burial following at Lawncroft Cemetery.

The Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center, was in charge of arrangements.
