(Above) On June 15, the 20 members of Girl Scout Junior Troop 706 celebrated the completion of a Butterfly Garden that the Middle Gate School fourth graders researched, designed, and planted at Cullen’s Lodge as part of their Bronze Awards service project. The garden includes meditation benches that the girls designed and painted, several plants to attract butterflies, a hand-carved plaque carved by Lizzie Wojcik and her mom, Lynn, and a copper butterfly bath. Members of the troop, from left, are Mikaela Sussman, Brooke Hadgraft, Hannah Bartlett, Hanna Ahmampour, Gabriella Perpignand, Samantha Kruzshak, Aleah Sussman, Victoria Calo, Lauren Reseska, Carol Cook, Katelyn Zimmerman, Sophia Matsis, Kelsea Morshuk, Caitlin Filiato, Brittany Gonzalez, Rachel Saint, Lizzie Wojcik, and Gillian Ostrofsky. (At lower left) Troop 837 is “Warming Hearts and Feet” with cookies and socks donated to the Children’s Home of Cromwell. The scouts voted to spend nearly 15 percent of their cookie sale profits to purchase socks for the Children’s Home residents. Scout dads matched the troop’s gift.

(Bottom) Brownie Girl Scout Troop 1114, from Sandy Hook School, worked collaboratively with Women Involved in Newtown to decorate baseball caps for children recovering from cancer treatment.
