Healing Hearts
Healing Hearts
York Childrenâs Foundation recently awarded The Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families a $1,000 grant to support its award-winning programs for children who have lost a parent, sibling, or grandparent.
A Newtown-based group is about to begin a new series of sessions. Healing Hearts: a Newtown Bereavement Group will hold support sessions on Mondays, September 13 and 17, October 4 and 18, November 8 and 22, and December 6 and 20. The group will meet for one hour, beginning at 6 pm.
The Healing Hearts Center is a program of Regional Hospice. The agencyâs Caring Continuum -â CARES at Home, Hospice, and Healing Hearts â provides care, comfort and compassion for those touched by life-limiting illness and loss. Regional Hospice, an affiliate of Danbury Hospital, serves Newtown and several other regional communities offering patients and families help with any stage of end-of-life care.
Healing Hearts is completely sustained through grants and donations. Thanks to community support, each year more than 250 children and their parents or caregivers are able to participate in professionally facilitated support groups and workshops.
The nationally recognized programs help children learn healthy ways to cope with the loss of their loved one while developing the skills necessary to rebuild their lives and go forward.
Anyone who would like to attend is asked to contact Laurie Petrasanta at 203-792-4422 (Healing Homes) or 203-270-0621 (home). Additional information is also available online at RegionalHospiceCT.org.
