Terrance Gibbons

Terrance John Gibbons, brother of Kevin Gibbons of Newtown, died June 20 in

Norwalk. Born in Bridgeport, he was a lifelong area resident.

Survivors include his father, Joseph Gibbons of Middletown; another brother

Joseph Gibbons of Avon; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held July 8 at St Peter's Church, Bridgeport. Interment

was in St Michael's Cemetery.

Arrangements were made by Frank Polke and Son Funeral Home.

Carole Anderson

Carole A. Anderson, 59, of Newtown, died July 7 at her home on Hanover Road.

She was the wife of Arthur A. Anderson.

Born in Danbury on December 24, 1935, she was a daughter of George and Lillian

Lawrence Johnston.

Before her retirement in 1991, she worked for 20 years as a buyer for the

Perkin-Elmer Corporation in Danbury.

Mrs Anderson was an office of the Newtown Soccer Club and was a community

volunteer caregiver.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Alan Anderson of Newtown; and

two sisters, Bernice Lowrie of Danbury, and Mary Youngberg of Georgia.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Newtown Ambulance Association,

PO Box 344, Newtown, CT 06470.

Funeral services were held July 11, from the Honan Funeral Home, Newtown, to a

Mass of Christian Burial at St Rose of Lima Church. Burial was in Newtown

Village Cemetery.

Michael Eckert

Michael J. Eckert, 40, brother of Leslie Eckert of Newtown, died July 6 at his

home in Southbury.

Born in Bridgeport, he had been a former Easton, Huntington, and Westport

resident. He graduated from Joel Barlow School, Redding, in 1972, and attended

Fairfield University and the University of Bridgeport.

He was employed for the past 19 years as manager for the Norwalk Aquarium.

Survivors include his beloved parents, Stanley and Irene Ulatowski Eckert of

Southbury; a sister-in-law Jane Eckert of Newtown; a nephew, Kevin Eckert, and

a niece, Caroline Eckert, both of Newtown; several uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Funeral services were held July 10 from the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home,

Trumbull, to a Mass of Christian Burial at Notre Dame of Easton Church.

Interment was in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery Trumbull.

Diane Harmon

Mrs Diane M. Harmon, 56, mother of Newtown Bee sports reporter Kim Harmon,

died July 4, at St Mary's Hospital. She was the wife of Maurice Harmon of

Waterbury.

Mrs Harmon was born November 14, 1938, in Waterbury, a daughter of the late

Philip and Laura Deziel Russell. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of

the American Italian Civic Club and Buzzin' Dozen Bowling League.

She is also survived by two other sons, Sean Harmon of Waterbury, and Maurice

Harmon of Hamden; three brothers, Ben Russell of Wolcott, Dennis Russell of

Southington, and Richard Russell of Naugatuck; three sisters, Helen Sargeant

and Aline Conway, both of Prospect, and Pauline McIsaac of Lawton, Okla.; and

three grandchildren.

Services were held July 7 from Bergin Funeral Home, Waterbury, to a Mass of

Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will be at the

convenience of the family.
