ON THE ROAD/SHANNON HICKS

Didja ever wonder how people got those jobs working during concerts and other

events at places like the Civic Center or the Meadows or the Coliseum?

For those interested in holding a seasonal position at The Meadows Music

Theatre in any of the following departments - box office, maintenance, ushers,

security, stage crew, groundskeeping, housekeeping and food service - the

Meadows is holding a job fair this weekend. On Saturday, April 4, from 10 am

to 2 pm, the theatre's directors will be presenting the fair. (A Note:

Residents of the City of Hartford possessing the necessary qualifications will

be given priority consideration in the selection process, thanks to AA/EOE.)

For details or directions, call the Meadows at 860/548-7370.

BOX THE COMPASS will be returning to Bassett's Coffee House this weekend.

Grant and John have a performance Friday, April 3, beginning at 8 pm. The

coffee house is in the old Saga location, on Route 7 at the "four corners"

intersection with Route 25. Bassett's doesn't charge a cover, and Jamie and

Matt always have a great selection of coffees, sodas and other drinks, as well

as snacks.

What is it with post-graduate college basketball stars (or their coaches) who

think they can hawk furniture or cars or banking services as well as they play

basketball?! Someone ought to do these folks a favor and tell them whatever

money they are being offered for radio and television commercials is not worth

looking that bad over!

Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
