Malota, Carmichael Pass CPA Exam

HARTFORD — One hundred persons, including two from Newtown, have passed the National Uniform Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination.

It was announced this week that of a total of 526 candidates , 100 passed, including two Newtown residents, Shauna L. Carmichael of 25 South Main Street, and Michael C. Malota of 15 Maltbie Road.

The exam is the second major step in the process leading to certification and licensure as a CPA. In order to qualify to take the exam, candidates must complete certain education requirements. And, in addition to meeting education and examination standards, CPA applicants must demonstrate that they have had two years of acceptable professional experience. Additionally, completion of an ethics course and annual continuing professional education are part of the certification process.
