Help From The Animal Center

To the Editor:

We would like to express our thanks to the nonprofit charity The Animal Center for their assistance with a pregnant feral cat that found her way to our doorstep. After sending an email to the center wondering what to do about this cat that we call Ginger, the director, Monica Roberto, contacted me immediately. A volunteer came to our home the next day with a humane trap and instructions on how to trap the feral cat safely. After the cat was trapped, The Animal Center fostered the cat, which gave birth to six kittens the following day. For weeks, their volunteers lovingly took care of the cat and her kittens. The Animal Center makes sure that all cats and kittens in their program are spayed/neutered by local veterinarians, and administers all necessary shots after which the kittens are put up for adoption.

I can’t say enough about The Animal Center and particularly Ms Roberto. She is caring and loving, the perfect person for the position of helping feral cats and kittens in the Newtown community. I for one feel very fortunate for having met Monica. I also would like to add that Ginger has been returned to our property, spayed so she can no longer have kittens and rabies vaccinated, and we are very grateful and glad to have her back.

The Animal Center is a very professional and well-run organization. Newtown is very fortunate to have such caring people looking after feral cats.
