Nancy Dudley

A Lover Of Life

Nancy Dudley, 57, wife of Dr John A. Dudley of Newtown, died April 13 in Danbury Hospital.   She was born in Fremont, Ohio, on October 9, 1949, a daughter of Lois (Casperson) Monahan of Fremont and the late John W. Monahan.

After graduating from Miami University in 1972 with a BS in education, she moved to Connecticut. She went on to teach second grade at Noah Wallace Elementary School in Farmington and then moved to Newtown in 1979.

She was active in the community, serving as president of the Newtown Welcome Wagon, director of Church School Education at Trinity Episcopal Church, and was involved with the Newtown PTA. Mrs Dudley was a nationally ranked equestrian and trainer of Arabian horses. In addition, she was an avid golfer and was instrumental in the formation of the Nutmeg Cup Golf Tournament. She loved children and was a passionate sailor.

In addition to her mother, Lois, and her husband Jack, Mrs Dudley is survived by her children, Christopher of Newtown and Erin of Boston; and by three sisters, Mary Chris Tindall of Taylors, S.C., Candyce Wingard of Fremont, Ohio, and Laurie Monahan of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Mrs Dudley was a lover of life and will be missed by all. Her family thanks her for her gift of joy and laughter she shared with them.

Funeral services were held April 18 in Trinity Episcopal Church, Newtown. The family would prefer memorial donations to Trinity Church Children’s Education Fund, 36 Main Street, Newtown CT 06470 or to the Nurse’s Fund at the Praxair Cancer Center of Danbury Hospital, 24 Hospital Avenue, Danbury CT 06810.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Honan Funeral Home, Newtown.
