SNAPSHOT: STEVEN SPIRO ROUNTOS

Occupation: I own Steven's Deli and More with my father, Spiro Rountos. We've

been here for three and a half months.

Residence: I was born in Danbury and live there with my parents.

Family: I am single. My parents are Spiro and Maria Rountos. I have two

sisters. One is Joanna, 23, who is studying for a master's degree as a

registered dietitian. She works at Danbury Hospital. My younger sister,

Fotini, is 16 and is a student at Danbury High School. My brother,

Christopher, is 19, and is majoring in business at WestConn.

Education: I graduated from Danbury High in 1995 and last May from Naugatuck

Valley Community Technical College in food service. I took a continuing

education class in soups, stocks and sauces at the Culinary Institute last

spring. I am going to take one on cakes, tortes and tarts in the spring when I

have time off.

Hobbies: My hobby is taking classes. I spend my free time going to school. I

enjoy it. I don't mind. To me, the time isn't being wasted; I'm learning

something new. You go in there to learn, not waste time, or the chefs won't

keep you in the class. The store takes up all my spare time. In the spare time

I have, I like to relax at home, watch whatever is on TV, or go to the movies.

The last movie I saw was the Titanic. I didn't see it at the theater, I bought

the video. It was good.

Books: I like to read cookbooks and try out new recipes.

Organizations: I'm a member of the Greek Orthodox Church on Clapboard Ridge

Road in Danbury.

Travel: My parents are from Greece. I went there last year to visit my

grandparents and cousins. I went to Samdorene and Athens. The Acropolis is

very nice. Athens is very nice to visit. The people are very hospitable. When

you go to their home, they treat you to coffee or a sweet.

Philosophy: In the store, I won't serve anything I won't eat. My personal

philosophy is if you treat me well, I'll treat you well.
